Danielle Smith

Regional Award

Awarded to a woman that inspires her community to achieve positive change through her leadership and develops and maintains community engagement by ensuring her community are valued/supported. She encourages community pride through participation, encourages teamwork, she strives for continuous improvement, leads by example, and inspires and empowers others to do the same. Through her dedication she has improved the lives of others through her service delivery to the community.

Danielle is a strong Aboriginal mother, sister, aunty, friend, colleague and community member. She is always willing to support and promote her community and culture and does so with pride and a spirit of inclusion.

Dannielle is a driving force in the Mount Gambier Community. She has organised local community events as part of NAIDOC Week and was the local Ambassador for the Yes Campaign. Danielle was also instrumental in supporting the first ever South-East Nationals Netball Team to compete in the 2023 Nunga Carnival. She secured significant funding for the netball teams for their accommodation, meals, uniforms and collaborated with local Aboriginal organisations for the travel arrangements. In doing so, Danielle gave the young women of the SE an opportunity to participate on the state level and represent their community and culture.

Danielle continually stands up for her community and demonstrates proudness of her culture and that of a strong Aboriginal women by standing by her culture values and beliefs by providing knowledge and information of culture to the community.
