Young Sister Dreaming Award

The young Sister Dreaming Award acknowledges a young Aboriginal woman up to the age of 18. This category is purposefully broad, however, to be eligible the nominee must be attending either primary or secondary school or completing full time study, contributing to community and leading by example.

Tahana Jade Chantrelle is a proud young Kokatha, Narungga and Kaurna woman. Born and raised in Adelaide, Kaurna Country. Family is very important to Tahana, and she believes it has given her a strong foundation for all she has achieved. Her parents, Carinne and Darnell, are very proud of all her achievements and she is a role model to her two younger siblings, lyla and Lennox. Tahana attended Salisbury Heights Primary School, where she was SRC representative, Aboriginal Student Leader, and sports day captain. Tahana received many Academic Awards during Primary School, along with the Upcoming Aboriginal student Leader Award in her graduation year.

Tahana Currently attends Salisbury East High School and is continually involved in numerous Aboriginal cultural programs. She has collected many Academic Awards for her outstanding GPA and has reached a high academic standard of a 4.8 GPA.

Tahana pursued her passion in basketball in late 2021, despite many challenges, through her determination and commitment she was rewarded with winning the teams Most Improved Player. This year she was a part of a school basketball team, which has recently won the grand final.

Tahana intends to graduate high school and attend university, along with reaching for higher levels with her basketball. She hopes to inspire and become a role model to all Aboriginal youth to reach their dreams.
